Leavenworth is a popular weekend destination for people from the Puget Sound region. Located in the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountains, it was a city in decline until the 1960s when the city adopted a city wide Bavarian theme. When tourists come to Whistler in the summer, a ride up the mountains in a gondola is a must do activity. There are two main gondolas from the village, the Whistler Mountain and the Blackcomb Mountain.
